A socio-political organization, South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), has urged Northern political aspirants planning to contest the 2027 presidential election to reconsider their ambitions and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In a statement titled, “2027: It’s Tinubu or Nobody,” the South East Coordinator of SERHA, Belusochukwu Enwere, emphasized that despite criticism of Tinubu’s administration, the President has demonstrated stability in governance and made strides in addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic and security challenges.
Enwere stated, “Although it is a New Year, 2025 will definitely set the pace for politics in 2027, defining Nigeria’s leadership. One year after his assumption of office, the debate in political circles is whether President Bola Tinubu has done well enough to deserve re-election in 2027.
“While critics argue that he has placed the economy on life support, others acknowledge that he has brought stability to governance and surpassed the expectations of his detractors.”
Highlighting Tinubu’s achievements, Enwere pointed to the President’s efforts to coordinate economic policies effectively and foster development across Nigeria. He cited Tinubu’s recent visit to Enugu State, where he commissioned several projects, as an example of his commitment to regional development in the South East.
“Another high point of the President’s administration is his strong political will in addressing socio-economic challenges, as well as ensuring peace, security, and prosperity for the nation,” he added.
Addressing Northern politicians eyeing the presidency in 2027, Enwere said, “For the political hawks in the North seeking to unseat him and take over in 2027, we advise that they chicken out of the contest and wait for their turn again. For Tinubu, it’s 4 + 4 = 8.”
The statement further stressed that Tinubu’s determination to lift Nigeria and Africa out of poverty is evidence that there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2027.” Enwere declared SERHA’s unwavering support for the President, describing their resolve as a “battle of No Retreat, No Surrender.”
As the 2027 elections draw closer, political observers believe that 2025 will be pivotal in shaping the country’s political landscape.
