Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha as the Director-General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), extending his leadership for a second five-year term.
The reappointment was announced in a press statement issued on Saturday by Toyin Omozuwa, Press Secretary to the NBRDA Director-General. According to the statement, Mustapha’s reappointment was formalized in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
The letter confirms that Mustapha’s second term will be effective from October 31, 2024, in accordance with the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022, Sections 10 (1) and (3), which outline the tenure and reappointment provisions for the Director-General position.
As he resumes this new term, Prof. Mustapha is expected to continue driving initiatives in biotechnology research, a field crucial to Nigeria’s scientific and technological advancements, particularly in agriculture, health, and environmental sustainability.
