President Bola Ahmed Tinubu allegedly plans to reshuffle his government soon. According to the Daily Trust, this will entail the appointment of new ministers and the establishment of a new ministry.
The new ministry will oversee livestock development, a department previously under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to a source, the new ministry is anticipated to take the lead in tackling the country’s periodic farmer-herder disputes, which have had a crippling influence on food security and resulted in the loss of thousands of lives and property.
According to Daily Trust sources, in addition to the creation of the new ministry, the cabinet reshuffle will result in the appointment of state ministers for the majority of ministries that presently have only one minister.
The move will also result in the appointment of ministers for ministries that only have a minister of state, such as Labour and Employment, as well as a minister for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, whose current minister, Betta Edu, has been suspended since January 8.
