I’ve had my fair share of controversy – Sanusi

Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, Kano’s 14th Emir, believes he has had his fair share of controversy. He spoke during the Rivers Economic and Investment Summit, which is currently taking place in Port Harcourt.

Sanusi, the keynote speaker at the event, stated that when Governor Siminalayi Fubara asked him, his schedule was tight, but he opted to accept the offer out of respect for the governor and the people of Rivers.

“When I received the invitation from His Excellency to come and serve as the keynote speaker at the maiden Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit, my diary was filed with a lot of programmes both locally and internationally.”

I was also nervous about speaking in such a public setting. Because sometimes it doesn’t matter what we say about the problems or the veracity of the remedies we propose for reorganising the economy for the benefit of everybody.

Misinterpretation and sensationalism might become the aftermath of a speech rather than its success. I’m sure we can all agree that I’ve faced my fair share of controversy. “This misunderstanding sometimes makes this cause a source of contention rather than a solution. However, honour breeds honour, and I see His Excellency’s invitation as an extraordinary honour, which is why I am here. In addition, celebrating Rivers State means honouring one of my dearest friends. Herbert Wigwe.

Sanusi praised the Fubara administration for attempting to forge a new path towards progress and prosperity. He stated that as an oil-rich state, natural resources alone would not be enough to turn Rivers’ fortunes around, but that such a feat could be accomplished with intentional leadership.

The conference marks Sanusi’s first public appearance since the news of his reinstatement to the throne surfaced.

Kluemedia previously reported that the Kano Assembly revoked the law that ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje used to dethrone Sanusi in 2020.
