A video of Diddy abusing Cassie Ventura proved the basis for her lawsuit against him. In a surveillance video obtained exclusively by CNN from 2016, Sean “Diddy” Combs is shown violently beating then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura during an incident, which aligns with charges made in Ventura’s previously settled federal complaint filed in November.
The tape, taken from several camera angles on March 5, 2016, appears to show the rapper, producer, and business mogul during an altercation that, according to Ventura’s lawsuit, occurred at the now-defunct InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
CNN cross-referenced the location. In the footage, he is seen rushing down the corridor with a white towel around his waist. He then grabs her by the neck and throws her across the floor before kicking her, collecting her bag and all of her belongings from the floor, kicking her again, and attempting to drag her away by her sweatshirt into a room.
He goes away, and Ventura is seen picking up the phone while Combs walks back to the hotel room to drop off her bags, then returns and shoves her into a corner. A few seconds later, he sits and throws an object at her.
Douglas H. Wigdor, Ventura’s attorney, stated “The harrowing footage has simply proven Mr. Combs’ disturbing and predatory attitude. Ms. Ventura’s courage and strength in stepping out to bring this to light are beyond words.
This previously unseen footage includes multiple civil laws and supports Combs’ charges of sexual trafficking and abuse. Combs previously disputed all charges, including Ventura’s.
