Senator Ayogu Eze Dies At 66

Senator Ayogu Eze, the former chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Media and a senator from Enugu North Senatorial Zone, has passed away.

According to reports, Eze, who served in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2015, passed away on Thursday at the age of 66 in an Abuja hospital following an unspecified illness.

Eze was a member of the Constitution Drafting and Amendment Committee throughout his eight years in the Senate, during which time the 1999 Nigerian constitution underwent some innovative amendments.

He was named head of the Senate Committee on Works following his reelection to the Senate in 2011. Additionally, Eze participated in committees pertaining to Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs, Marine Transport, National Planning, and Police Affairs.

Sen. Ayogu Eze, who was born on November 23, 1958, was chosen to serve as a senator representing Nigeria’s Enugu State’s Enugu North Senatorial District. He assumed office on June 5, 2007.
