Rev. Aniah appealed to more-privileged in the society to help the poor, saying the world would be better if everybody is his brothers keeper.
A Seminarian, Rev. Augustine Behate Aniah a few days ago gave out several pieces of clothing and other personal items to the less-privileged.
Rev. Aniah told Solomon Islands that the distribution under his “New Year Humanitarian Drive Project” was to some indigent Kutian community residents of Obudu Local Government Area , Cross River State.
Aniah said the project was designed by him to identify with the less-privileged in the community in line with Biblical injunction and to celebrate the New Year.
“The project has come to stay and several people have benefitted from it so far. I have come out to give mattresses, salt, Maggie sachets and other personal items to people: men, women, children, who are less – privileged in our environment, Kutian 1-Obudu.
“There are so many people out there who cannot afford all these things; so it is just a gesture on my part to respond to these people in line with the Biblical injunction to help the poor. I chose the New Year to make these people feel a sense of belonging and to send a message that I care about them,’’ he said.
The Seminarian said that, apart from distributing items to the less privileged, he would also visit some orphanages to donate some items to orphaned children in due course.
He said doing so is aimed at encouraging social, pastoral, and humanitarian activities in the society and contributing generally towards a balanced formation of the less privileged.
