Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Clarita Ogar, the party’s candidate for the Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 House of Representatives election.

In a heartfelt message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, Obi described Ogar’s death as untimely and a great loss not only to her family and the Labour Party but also to the broader movement for justice and good governance in Nigeria.
Obi revealed that he recently contacted the family of the late politician and was informed of the unfortunate news.
“I reached out to her family a few days ago and they informed me about the sad news. I want to again sincerely offer my condolences on behalf of my family and the Obidient family,” he wrote.
He praised Clarita Ogar as a fearless and patriotic woman who stood firmly for justice and the dream of a better Nigeria.
“@clarita_ogar was not just a patriot but also a fearless woman who stood for justice and a better Nigeria,” Obi added.
He concluded his message with prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul and comfort for her family and loved ones.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may God give her family and all of us the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss.”
Clarita Ogar was a prominent figure in the Labour Party’s push for change in Cross River State and was known for her commitment to equity and grassroots development. Her passing is being mourned across party lines and among many in the Obidient movement.
