In a major escalation, Israeli fighter jets have launched more than 100 munitions on targets across Tehran within the past two hours, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Among the high-profile targets destroyed was the “Destruction of Israel” countdown clock located in Palestine Square, an iconic symbol which had been set to reach zero in the year 2040, a reference to Ayatollah Khamenei’s infamous claim that Israel would cease to exist by then.
The IDF confirmed direct hits on several critical military installations belonging to the Iranian regime. Key among them was the Thar-Allah Command Center, the principal IRGC base charged with defending Tehran against both external aggression and domestic unrest.
Also targeted was the Sayyed al-Shuhada Corps, another elite IRGC unit primarily responsible for homeland defense and the suppression of internal dissent.
In addition, Israeli forces struck the General Intelligence Directorate of Iran’s Internal Security Forces, an agency responsible for supervising personnel, monitoring internal communications, and controlling information and media within the regime.
The IDF says these operations are part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle Iran’s military infrastructure and weaken the regime’s capacity to threaten regional stability and the security of the State of Israel.
In a significant blow, the IRGC’s main headquarters in the city of Karaj was also reportedly obliterated.
An IDF spokesperson confirmed that the strikes focused on multiple regime-controlled military command centers in and around Tehran, reiterating that Israel will continue its strategic operations to ensure national security.
