
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Executive Management teams for 12 River Basin Development Authorities under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources. Among the newly appointed leaders is Mr. Wabili Nyiam, who will serve as Chairman of the Cross River Basin Development Authority, covering Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
This announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement by the Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The appointments include a Chairman, Managing Director, and four Executive Directors for each of the 12 River Basin Development Authorities.
For the Cross River Basin Development Authority, Mr. Wabili Nyiam (Cross River) will lead as Chairman, with Mrs. Glory Ekpo Oho (Akwa Ibom) as Managing Director. The Executive Directors are Effiwatt Otu Eyo, Finance (Cross River); Ms. Ebiere Etuk Udoh, Agric Services (Akwa Ibom); Engr. Charles Usua Akpan, Engineering (Akwa Ibom); and Dr. Ndom Abia, Planning and Design (Akwa Ibom).
Similar appointments were made for other River Basin Development Authorities nationwide. These include Ogun-Osun, Upper Benue, Chad Basin, Benin-Owena, Niger Delta, Upper Niger, Lower Niger, Lower Benue, Anambra-Imo, Hadejia-Jama’are, and Sokoto Rima authorities.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of these appointments in enhancing the efficiency of the River Basin Development Authorities to align with his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians. He expressed confidence that the appointees, with their diverse expertise, will foster progress in water resource management, irrigation agriculture, and rural development across the country.
With this strategic reconstitution, the Federal Government aims to strengthen the management of water resources and contribute to agricultural development and food security.
