Umuahia, Nigeria – As Abia State gears up for its first-ever international trade fair, Governor Alex Otti has promised both local and international businesses a memorable experience. The inaugural Aba International Trade Fair, set to begin on November 28 and run through December 7, 2024, is expected to draw a global audience, with approximately 10,000 participants anticipated from across Nigeria and beyond.
Speaking at a press conference in Umuahia on Wednesday, Otti’s Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, represented the governor and expressed confidence that the event will highlight Aba’s potential as a commercial hub. “The trade fair will be conducted on an international scale as we look forward to welcoming the global business community to Enyimba City, just in time for the yuletide shopping activities,” Emetu said.
The Abia State government has been working closely with the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ACCIMA) to ensure the event’s success. Emetu emphasized the administration’s commitment to this endeavor, describing the fair as a product of “months of hard work, dedication, and engagements with various stakeholder groups.”
In addition to boosting Abia’s economy, the fair will coincide with year-end festivities, creating a unique convergence of business and cultural celebrations. Emetu assured the public that he had been personally overseeing the Planning Committee’s activities to ensure the event runs smoothly. “The Abia Government is intensely committed to the success of the 2024 Aba International Trade Fair and has thrown its full weight to guarantee the smooth execution and delivery of the 10-day event,” he stated.
In terms of security, Emetu underlined that safety is a top priority for the administration, reassuring participants that stringent measures are in place to safeguard everyone involved. “Government has practically taken measures to ensure that there will be no security threats or gaps before, during, and after the Trade Fair,” he assured. The event will feature round-the-clock security infrastructure and personnel at the fair venue, providing a secure environment for participants, their products, and key infrastructure.
“This Trade Fair will showcase Aba as one of the safest and most secure business destinations in the entire country,” Emetu concluded, inviting all prospective attendees to experience this historic event in Abia State.
The Aba International Trade Fair promises to be a milestone in Abia’s journey to becoming a major player in the global market, offering businesses the opportunity to engage with a diverse, international audience.
