Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to Attend Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh

Abuja, Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria is set to depart Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will participate in the upcoming Joint Arab-Islamic Summit. The summit, scheduled to commence on Monday, November 11, will focus on the pressing Middle Eastern crisis, particularly the escalating Israel-Palestinian conflict.

The trip was confirmed in a statement on Saturday by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, who indicated that Tinubu’s attendance follows an invitation extended by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. This summit marks a follow-up to last year’s gathering in the same Saudi city, underscoring ongoing regional challenges.

During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to advocate for an immediate ceasefire, highlighting Nigeria’s stance on the importance of de-escalating the conflict. The president aims to express Nigeria’s commitment to peaceful solutions and to the humanitarian relief efforts urgently needed in the affected areas.

Tinubu’s trip to Riyadh is part of a broader diplomatic push by Nigeria to strengthen ties with Middle Eastern countries and to play a constructive role in addressing global conflicts that impact both regional stability and international security.
