Abuja, Nigeria – At the inauguration of the People’s Democratic Institute (PDI), the elite research and intelligence arm of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State called on party stakeholders to prioritize unity as a crucial step toward revitalizing Nigeria. The event, held on Thursday in Abuja, also saw former Senate President Bukola Saraki emphasizing the necessity of a stable PDP for the party’s growth and for members’ political aspirations.
Reflecting on the party’s trajectory, Governor Makinde attributed PDP’s challenges to internal discord that emerged in 2015, suggesting that unresolved conflicts among stakeholders have hindered the party’s effectiveness in the years since. He encouraged members to reconcile, underscoring that a united front would strengthen PDP’s capacity to address Nigeria’s challenges effectively.
Former Senate President Saraki echoed Makinde’s sentiments, stressing that no member could aspire to any political office without a solid and stable party foundation. Saraki called for collective efforts to ensure the PDP remains cohesive and resilient as it aims to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s future.
The inauguration of the PDI Board of Governors marks a significant step for the PDP, as the institute aims to provide research-driven insights and intelligence that can guide party decisions and strategies moving forward. Both leaders highlighted that a well-organized, stable PDP would be instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s future positively.
