Abuja, Nigeria — Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Nigeria’s President, on Thursday disclosed that all funding for her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) is sourced from private donors and corporate partners. This announcement, made at the State House, Abuja, aims to address recent questions raised about the project’s financial backing.
Speaking to newsmen after a meeting with wives of state governors and RHI coordinators from across Nigeria, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that the RHI operates as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), reliant solely on voluntary contributions. “I know people are always saying, where do I get the billions from. I’m going to address that. We are a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). People give us money,” she stated.
Among the prominent contributors to the initiative, Mrs. Tinubu revealed that BUA Group, a leading Nigerian conglomerate, is one of the major donors supporting the RHI’s activities. Additionally, she mentioned another company assisting in the RHI’s food bank program, though the latter prefers to remain unnamed.
The Renewed Hope Initiative, launched by Mrs. Tinubu, aims to address various social and economic challenges facing vulnerable communities in Nigeria. Activities include food distribution through the food bank program, alongside other outreach and empowerment efforts aimed at supporting disadvantaged populations across the country.
Mrs. Tinubu’s clarification comes amid growing public interest in the initiative’s funding sources, underscoring the RHI’s commitment to transparency while respecting donor privacy for those choosing to contribute anonymously.
