The Nigerian Transmission Company has announced that it has begun restoring the national grid in order to restore energy supply, hours after the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress ceased their prolonged strikes.
This comes after organised labour postponed its walkout for a week in response to the federal government’s reaffirmed pledge. Following the strike halt, TCN stated that power recovery has commenced at the Shiroro Hydropower Substation, which would then restor supply to the Katampe substation.
TCN began grid recovery around 3.23am, utilising the Shiroro Substation to try to feed the transmission lines that send bulk energy to the Katampe Transmission Substation.
The workers union continues to hinder grid recovery across the country. “We will continue to make efforts to recover and stabilise the grid to enable the restoration of normal bulk transmission of electricity to distribution load centres nationwide”, TCN said on Monday.

Recall that the organized labour on Monday shut down the country’s National grid to press home their demand for a new minimum wage implementation.#However, at the time of filing the report, the power supply is yet to be restored by Electricity Distribution Companies.
