The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their strikes for five days. Festus Osifo, the TUC president, stated this on Tuesday in Abuja.
The labour leader stated that a communiqué would be issued shortly. The strike suspension will allow for uninterrupted meetings with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.
The SGF, George Akume, stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to paying more than N60,000 as the minimum wage.
He also stated that no workers will suffer sanctions for participating in the walkout, and that the tripartite committee would meet daily for the next week to finalise the new minimum wage.
