Kano’s deputy governor told reporters at the Emir’s palace on Saturday that NSA Ribadu flew Mr Ado-Bayero to Kano.
The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has refuted allegations that the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, assisted the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, in returning to Kano on Saturday.
Aminu Abdulsalam, the Kano State Deputy Governor, claimed Mr Ribadu arranged two aircraft for Mr Ado Bayero’s return to the capital around 4.30 a.m. on Saturday.
Speaking with journalists, Zakari Mijinyawa, the NSA’s spokeswoman, denied the accusation.
He said that Mr Ribadu did not provide the aircraft that returned Mr Ado-Bayero to Kano. He encouraged lawmakers to be cautious of their words since they could imperil security forces’ attempts to maintain calm in the state.
I read the remarks on social media, and it is false. The NSA did not fly anyone to Kano.
Political players should stop misinforming the people as law enforcement authorities in the state work to keep the peace and order,” Mr Mijinyawa added. Governor Yusuf reinstalled Kano’s 14th emir, Lamido Sanusi, four years after his removal by Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration.
Mr Sanusi’s restoration followed the annulment of the state’s Emirate Council Law 2019, which established five emirates councils and five first-class emirs.
On Thursday, the governor announced Mr. Sanusi’s reinstatement. However, the Federal High Court barred the state administration from enforcing the new emirate council statute, which reinstalled Mr Sanusi.
The state’s security agencies have also urged the parties involved in the conflict to follow the court ruling and committed to maintain peace and order.
