The Head of Local Government Administration, (HOLGA) Bekwarra local government area, Cross River State, Mrs Angela Ugbut-Agboje, has bagged the Rootswatch Magazine’s Merit Award as the best performing Council Boss following her outstanding and impactful performance in Rural Integration and Roads Maintenance programmes.
The council HOLGA while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday said the award is for her boss, His Excellency (Sen.) Prince Bassey Otu, whom she said gave her the platform to perform in office.
Speaking further, Ugbut-Agboje said the news of the award came to her as a surprise, saying that the inspiration to develop the council came from the people first mantra of the working governor, Sen. Otu whom she described as a developer of both human and infrastructures.
While commending the governor for the supports she has gotten so far, Ugbut-Agboje said she had within the first six months of her administration turned around the council with harvest of developments.
She thanked the administration of His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu, for the opportunity to serve.
She stated that, the government of Senator Otu did not discriminate, despite my challenges he gave me the opportunity to serve.
She said the award would further spur her to work harder in pursuing people-centred programmes.
The Council Boss, dedicated the Award to her late mother for not giving up on her education, despite been a disabled child. She expressed delight that, her parents never dispised her but passed through pain to see her become relevant in life and to the society.
Angela, reiterated her renewed commitment to work harder in delivering democracy dividends to the people of her council area and lauded Governor Bassey Otu for giving her the opportunity and the necessary support and encouragement to work in the state thereby making it possible for her to qualify for the coveted award.
She also pointed out that the appreciation for the award cannot be completed without the mentioning of the council members of staff and friends who stood with her.
While commending the Rootswatch Magazine Editorial Board for selecting her as one of the awardees, she said the award will further spur her to do more, calling on all Bekwarra people to rally round and support Sen. Bassey Otu’s administration.
Mrs. Agboje is a proven administrator, organiser and strategist, she has brought her wealth of experience garnered over the years in various capacities at different times to bear in her administration of Bekwarra local government area much to the delight of the people..
