Pump Price Hike: Hon. Ojiho Intervenes, Prevents Planned Protest In Yala


Ahead of the planned protest by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the Community Relations Officer (CRO) for Yala 1 State Constituency, Hon Sunday Ojiho have stressed the need to shelve the protest in the interest of peace and progress.

Hon Ojiho, who on Friday swiftly intervened to stop the planned protest due to the high cost of petroleum products in Okuku-Yala in Yala LGA, however, called for continued dialogue with stakeholders in order to avert further hardship on citizens.

The CRO conferred with the leadership of the NYCN, the police, and other relevant stakeholders for a crucial meeting to proffer solutions before the crisis escalates to an uncontrollable violence.

During the meeting, petrol station dealers were asked to review down their prices while awaiting the new price to enable the masses undergo their daily business activities in Yala metropolis.

Speaking during the exercise, Ojiho, a former Lawmaker appealed that they shouldn’t cause unnecessary difficulties and hardship for the masses rather they should look for a way on how to harmonize their interest and that of the masses while doing their businesses.

Relying on his veto power bestowed on him as the representative of the Governor in Yala 1 Constituency, the Community Relations Officer authorized the immediate opening of all closed fuels stations and charged dealers to revert to the old price of N750 per litre.

Notable personalities and stakeholders present includes Chief Gabriel Ogbuole Agi ( GABAGS), Hon. Timothy Eba Obstacle, Mr Victor Bravo, the Officer -in -Charge of Okuku Police Station, leaders of Fuel Dealers Association, all fuel station managers amongst others.

Hon. Sunday, a dedicated public servant, began his journey in community representation as a councillor for Okuku ward in Yala Local Government Area.

His commitment to the welfare and development of his constituents earned him respect and trust, leading to other subsequent public engagements. Hon. Ojiho is presently the Community Relation Officer for Yala under the Cross River State Government.

In this role, he continues to bridge the gap between the government and the community, fostering understanding and cooperation for the overall progress of the Yala people.
