Celebrity Linda Ikeji has revealed that The Night of June 7th, an upcoming true story-based film, is one of her projects.
Dark October, Linda Ikeji’s debut film, was likewise based on real-life incidents.
In 2024, I will release my second feature film, The Night of June 7th, which is based on actual events. You will adore this if you enjoyed Dark October—or didn’t, haha! I wrote and produced this film, and I can’t wait for you all to watch it. You will experience a wide range of feelings from it. “You guys, the night of June 7th is almost here,” she wrote.
Although the exact real-life events on which the film is based is unknown, June 7 is widely recognised in Nigeria as the day of the Apo 6 incident. Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniru, Anthony Nwokike, Paulinus Ogbonna, Ekene Isaac Mgbe, and his wife, Augustina Arebu, were among the five young Igbo men who died on June 7, 2005.
At a police checkpoint at Gimbiya Street, Area 11, Gariki, Abuja, the six individuals were brutally murdered by Nigerian Police Force members, who were commanded by former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Danjuma Ibrahim. The female victim allegedly rejected the senior officer’s romantic attempts at a city nightclub, which sparked the altercation.
Ikeji has already produced a feature film based on a real-life incident. One of the touchy themes discussed in the 2023 release of Dark October was the lynching of the Aluu 4.
In the movie, four Nigerian university students went to a specific location to look for a debtor who owes them money. Unfortunately, the debtor falsely reported that the lads had come to take his possessions; as a result, the boys were paraded by the mobs.
The actors scheduled to appear in The Night of June 7th are Gideon Okeke, Charles Lenny, April Chidinma, Ali Nuhu, Dante Okere, and Femi Branch.
