According to Mikhail Kadiri, the coroner magistrate, Oromoni’s enlarged liver was not adequately treated, which is why he passed away. On November 30, 2021, Oromoni passed away. Bullies and an alleged poisoned liquid he was made to drink at school were blamed for his death.

Prior to his passing, he was reported to have claimed that he had been beaten up by five senior Dowen College students: Favour Benjamin, 16, Edward Begue, 16, Ansel Temile, 14, Kenneth Inyang, and Michael Kashamu, 16, the late senator Buruji Kashamu’s son.
On January 5, 2022, the Lagos State Government cleared the five Dowen College personnel and students who had been charged with Sylvester Oromoni’s death in Lekki, Lagos. “It is evident from the above that the deceased’s health declined while under the care of (doctor) PW 3,” Kadiri stated. “PW 3 neglected the deceased for more than thirty-two hours and did not provide the deceased with the necessary care. Due to the carelessness of PW 3 and the deceased’s parents, his death may have been prevented, since they delayed taking him to the hospital until the day of his death on November 30, 2021. “The deceased was made to suffer needlessly and endured avoidable and excruciating pain,” Kadiri stated.
